Bill was my son Neil's bus monitor for several years, and he was a wonderful person to have "run" the bus! He was full of life and made the kids laugh. Bill's "thumbs up" sign meant all was good on the bus, and that's the way he kept it! We will miss him but will always remember his wit, wisdom and kind ways. Vestal is a better place to live because of people like Bill Mitchell.

Dear Mrs. Mitchell and Family,
I was saddened to hear of Bill's passing and your loss. He was a great friend and support to my daughter, Amy Patten, throughout her fight against cancer. Amy's daughter Acacia still wraps herself up in the comfort of her Mommy's quilt that Bill so generously bid on at Amy's benefit and then passed on to her the following week.
You are in my thoughts and prayers. It brings me comfort to think of them back together again, smiling down and watching over us all.

I was sorry to hear that Bill had died. I was aware that his condition was serious. Updates were provided by Don Moore and Frank Valletta. I have not seen or talked to Bill in some time, but we grew up together in Endicott and I lost touch when I went South. He'll be missed.
