Dr. F. Brooks Sanders

F. Sanders Obituary

Dr. F. Brooks Sanders
of Johnson City
On December 4th, Dr. F. Brooks Sanders took up new residence. He stepped on shore, and found it Heaven. He touched a Hand, and found it God's. As a graduate of Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois, Master of Arts in Philosophy from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina, and Doctor of Philosophy in Communications, as well as a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Dr. Sanders was known and loved by many as pastor, author, teacher and friend. His career engaged him as musician, poet, architect, college administrator, professor and minister. He was revered as a teacher and scholar in his tenures at the University of Michigan, Ohio University, State University College at Oneonta, Binghamton University, BCC, and as the Academic Dean of Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts. In his younger days, he also served as a Naval Pharmacist Mate during World War II. But most of all, F. Brooks Sanders was beloved as husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. If the worth of a man can be measured by the love of those closest to him, he would surely be described as a man of great wealth. He is survived and most cherished by his loving wife, Roberta; and his precious children, Robert Brooks Sanders, Randy Grant Sanders and Jan BrookeHarte; as well as four beloved grandchildren, Brad Snyder, Scott Sanders, Kyle and Kelly Sanders; and three adored great-grandchildren, Jacob, Abigail and Caleb Snyder. Brooks is also survived by his esteemed sisters, June Sanders Brobst and Virginia Sanders Taylor.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2007, at 3 p.m. at the United Methodist Home, Hilltop Campus, with Rev. Christopher Simser and Rev. Ronald Piedmonte officiating. Friends are invited to join the family on Sunday at the Hilltop Campus from 2 p.m. until the time of service. Flowers are beautiful, but we know that donations to The Acorn Foundation, on whose board he served, would be most welcomed. The Acorn Foundation, P.O. Box 333, Port Crane, N.Y. 13833.

We only met 'Doc' a few times, but we loved meeting him and Roberta, and talking to them. He was a great guy and has left a legacy of joy and love. Our prayers are with you all now.

Brooks, Tina and all of the Sanders' family members: Though Brian and I are many miles from NY, we received word from family of your loss. We hope these words offer you comfort at this time. Please know that we still think of you often, and we offer our prayers for Dr. Sanders' welcome into Heaven. May memories bring you comfort at this time. With sympathy, Brian and Debbie Pilotti

Back in 1968 I came to Binghamton University to be interviewed for a
position in the audiovisual department Dr. Sanders directed. He gave me
a chance to start my four-decade carrer there and I am forever
grateful. He was always kind and encouraging to me and we kept in touch
on and off right up until recently by phone. I have always been
grateful for his hiring me. Having a Chrisitian manager made all the
difference.May the Lord provide the strength and comfort you need right
now. The hope we share for graduation to Heaven has been fulfilled for Brooks and can be looked forward to for all the family who has trusted in the Lord Jesus
