Robert L. Lannon
of Johnson City
Robert L. Lannon, 85, of Johnson City, formerly of Vestal, died Monday, December 10, 2007, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Jane and Leo Lannon; and a granddaughter, Mary Catherine Marquardt. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Phyllis Moran Lannon, Johnson City; his children, Patricia and Allen Carkey, Vestal, Robert M. and Mary Lou Lannon, Syracuse, Eileen and Martin Kane, Vestal, Jane Lannon Greene, Vestal, Marie and Charles Marquardt, Charleston, S.C.; 14 grandchildren, Michael, Bryan and Kevin Carkey, J. Patrick, Christopher and Catherine Lannon, Martin, Brendan and Devin Kane, Kevin and Sean Greene, Christine, Laura and Matthew Marquardt; a sister, Jane and Walter Sweeney, Syracuse; brother-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Moran, Endicott; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal, retired employee of the IBM Corporation, and a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, and a member of American Legion Post 89. Bob was very devoted to his children and grandchildren, attending all of their activities and sporting events.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal, Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Thursday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Bob may be made to MUSC Children's Hospital Fund, 59 Bee Street, P.O. Box 250201, Charleston, S.C. 29425.
