Marilyn Fish Munro

MUNRO, MARILYN FISH, 76, of Schooner Cove Lane, since 2001 and formerly of Westport, CT, died Wednesday. She was the wife of Joseph B. Munro, Jr. and they were married 54 years.

Born in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Charles and Marie (Poland) Fish. Her father founded the school of Oceanography at the University of Rhode Island. Mrs. Munro received her bachelor's degree from Smith College and earned her law degree from the University of Bridgeport. She was a partner with her husband at Munro & Munro, in Westport, Ct.

She was a nationally ranked crossword puzzle contestant and had been in the top ten percent for a number of years. She had participated in the first 23 crossword puzzle tournaments until her illness made it difficult to compete.

Beside her husband, she leaves three sons, Jay Munro of Redmond, WA, Chip Munro of Kingston and Ted Munro of West Greenwich and six grandchildren: Chip Jr., Jayson, Katie, T.J., Teddy and Bailey.

Visiting hours are at the AVERY-STORTI Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield Tuesday 6-8 PM. A memorial service will be Saturday September 8th at 11AM in the Church of the Ascension, corners of Main Street and Kenyon Avenue, Wakefield. Burial will be private in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
