Thomas Durvin Obituary

DURVIN, SR., THOMAS A., 67, of Douglas Ave., died unexpectedly Friday, June 20, 2008, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Lough) Durvin for 46 years.

Born in Providence, a son of the late William F. and Helen L. (Bligh) Durvin, Sr., he lived in North Providence 10 years formerly residing in Smithfield for 32 years. Mr. Durvin was a quality control inspector for FRAM Aerospace for 5 years and a truck driver for DeBlois Oil for 23 years before retiring. He served in the RI National Guard and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Thomas was the devoted father of Thomas A. Durvin, Jr. and his wife Paula, Michael P. Durvin and his wife Ilda, and David A. Durvin and his wife Anna. Loving grandfather of Sarah, Laura, Elizabeth and Emily Durvin and brother of Bill F. Durvin, Jr. of Smithfield.

His funeral will be held Monday at 9 A.M. from the TUCKER-QUINN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 643 Putnam Ave., (Rt. 44) Greenville with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 A.M. in St. Philip Church, Putnam Ave., Greenville. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Monday morning 8-9 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 260 West Exchange Street, Ste. 102B, Providence, RI 02903 or The March of Dimes, 260 West Exchange St., Providence, RI 02903. Uncle Billy, I am so sorry for the loss of " Uncle Tommy " we all had alot of fun when we were kids, swimming in your pool, and the laughter from all of us will always be remembered. My heart felt sympathy also extends to the entire Durvin Family, may he rest in peace
