Howard Hopkins Obituary
Born in Warwick, he was a son of Lorraine (Truchon) Hopkins Parenteau of Coventry and the late Howard L. Hopkins.
Howard was the owner of the Village Pub in Coventry for the past 28 years. He was a member of the Anthony PNA Club, enjoyed golf and baseball and loved being with his family and friends.
Besides his mother, he leaves two sons, Howard L. Hopkins III of Beverly, MA and Derek M. Hopkins of Coventry, and his brother, Mark Hopkins of Coventry. Howard is also survived by his companion, Cathy Fortier of Coventry.
His funeral will be held Saturday, June 28, 2008 at 8:45 am from the Robert A. Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., Coventry with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Vincent de Paul Church, Coventry. Visiting hours Friday 3-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Boston Shriners Hospital, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114 will be appreciated.

Dear Hopkins Family,
I am so sad to hear of Howie’s passing. I’ve known Howie since we played football together on the Rams. The best camping trip I ever have been a party to was with Howie, JR and Robert in western Mass in 1974. I’m still laughing. Howie had a wonderful way of making everybody happy and wore a smile every time I saw him. I have a lot of fond memories of Howie and I will miss him very much.

We were both shocked and saddened to here about the passing of Howie. Every Saturday night for 5 years Howie would light up the night singing his signature song, "draggin' the line". I will never forget the great times at the VP. You will always hold a special place in our hearts. We love and miss you Howie!

To Cathy and all Family and Friends of Howie. I worked many years ago with Howie at Hoechst, and was also on the PNA Golf League for many years, also stopping to say Hi to him at the Pub. My give my regrets to the Family....I've been friends with Howie since he played on my Dad's Little League and Pop Warner Football teams back in the mid 1960's....I did not know he was ill though I was with him 3 weeks ago....he was a good man who I know we all will miss....God Bless Howie and his family....
