It was such sad news to hear of Joy passing. I know that she is finally not suffering and for that I am so happy. She was an amazing woman. I will never forget her caring, her love and amazing compassion for other people. Joy was always positive and had an amazing outlook on life! She helped me through my cancer and for that I can never thank her enough! Please know that I am thinking of your whole family at this time and wish you all prayers! Joy will always be remembered!

Dear Bob, Jesse, Tom, and Cathy,
I just learned today of Joy's death, and am so very saddened. We were roommates in college and kept in touch throughout the years with birthday calls, at least. Several years ago we enjoyed a wonderful get-together in Newport. Oh, what a gracious, lovely, spirited person...what a loss for everyone. My heart and prayers are with you.
With love,

Dear Veaudry Family
My deepest sympathies to you during this time. I did not know Joy but knew of her as she co-authored Meeting the Grand Dame with my mom, Helen Quade. Her spirit and beauty came through her words and poems. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Dear Bob, Jesse,Cathy and Tom,
I know that I don't have to tell you how special Joy was to all who knew her. Joy had the most gentle spirit and kind heart. As part of the breast friends support group for 14 years, she gave us friendship and understanding and her gift of beautiful meditations. Her soft voice and words would bring us to a very special place of peace.I know that Joy is now at peace and is one of the angels looking down on us all. I believe that those who leave us in this life, live on in the hearts of those left behind. I will always carry the memories of Joy in my heart and will never forget her beauty.

Dear Bill and family,
The first time I met cousin Joy was when I was on a business trip in the Providence area. I remember picking up the phone to call and invite myself over for an evening to get acquainted. I cannot tell you enough, the joy in Joy's voice when I spoke to her for the first time.
We all shared time together at your home and then again at Don and Pat's home for a reunion.
Her outgoing smile, her spirit and love of life will always be remembered by me and my wife Jeri.
We thank God for knowing Joy.

Jesus said, "Do not let your hearts be troubled.
Believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father's house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also.
And you know the way to the place where I am going.
I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you. In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me; because I live, you also will live."

God is with you during this time, and so are we with our prayers. Our deepest condolences to all.

I knew Joy in Jr. High and loved her intelligence and enthusiasm; she was a great debate partner! I moved away and we lost touch for many years, but 25 years later, she made the effort to reconnect and I am grateful. She had grown into such a lovely, warm, and gracious woman and lost none of her wit and enthusiasm. I am saddened by her passing and offer my deepest condolences to her family.

Dear Bob, Jesse, Cathy, Tommy, Matt and Rachael....
We will miss Joy so very much but will treasure our memories of her. She always made us welcome at your home with her love of plants, animals and children. Her fight and will power carried her so much further than anyone could have expected. Our Cape Cod group feels quite a void with her passing but we are glad her struggle is over.
Our Love To You All,

Dear Bob, Jesse, Tommy and Cathy,

Words fall short at a time like this.
I know that the world is a kinder and gentler place for having had Joy's presence. Her voice on our nonprofit Board of Directors was one of great insight and our more recent quiet times together were filled with even greater peace and wisdom. She will be sadly and lovingly missed.
My warmest thoughts are sent your way during this difficult time of passing and it is my deepest prayer that peace will find its way back into your hearts.

To Joy's family,
I didn't really know Joy. She was a little kid when I was growing up. Her brother, Bill was a friend of mine and we went to the same church and school. I knew their mom very well. She also was a very nice lady. When we moved to our current address, Mrs Veaudry lived across the street. I want you to know that you are in our prayers please accept our sincere condolences on your loss.

The first time I really talked with Joy was a rainy day. She sat quietly with a sleeping baby Tommy in her lap, and we talked about children and home. I am a better person for the time I spent with her, and with Bob, Jesse, Tom and Cathy. Love to all of you, and peace to Joy as she travels on.

Joy was my oldest childhood friend. We met as neighbors when we were both 4 years old....and we grew up together. I learned much from her as a child - always creative, enthusiastic and willing to pal around with me on many of our adventures in the neighborhood and in and around Lincoln.

Time and circumstance distanced us as we grew older and made our own lives - but we both shared a November birthday - and always made the birthday phone calls! She was a very gentle, gifted woman, and a lifelong friend.

I know she suffered much in recent years and am consoled that she suffers no more.

Bob, Jesse, Cathy & Tom, you were Joy's life, and the joy of her life and I offer you my deepest and most heartfelt sympathy.

Unfortunately I will be in California on the day of Joy's memorial service but my spirit will be joined with hers and yours on that day as you celebrate her wonderful life.

Joy was a favorite student of mine while she was completing her Master's degree at URI, and after that, a valued friend and colleague. I was saddened when I first heard the news of her cancer, but have felt blessed for every day she was with us since then. I can only offer my sympathies for her family and my prayers for her soul.

Joy was a joy to know. Her poetry is authentic and so compelling. Being in the Olney Street writing group with her was a great privilege. We will all miss her enormously. What a brave and intrepid soul. I hope her family will find comfort in their memories of such a wonderful person.
