Maria Bernardo Obituary

BERNARDO, MARIA A. (dos SANTOS), 79, of Macondray Street, Cumberland passed away Sunday at home. She was the wife of the late Narciso P. Bernardo.

Born in Silgueiros, Viseu, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Elisa (de Figueiredo) dos Santos.

She came to this country in 1974 settling in Cumberland. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and was active with the church 'Rancho Folclorico' group since it's founding in 1995.

She leaves three sons, Jorge F. Santos and Jose A. Pereira both of Pawtucket and John A. Bernardo of Cumberland. Three daughters, Maria D. da Silva, M. Helena Sousa, Alzira M. Amaral, Maria M. Almeida and Maria L. Loureiro all of Cumberland. She also leaves 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held WEDNESDAY evening at 7 p.m. in the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling Hours will be held WEDNESDAY from 5-8 p.m. Burial will be held in Portugal. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Nursing Placements, 334 East Ave., Pawtucket, RI 02860 in her memory.
