Muriel Johnson Obituary

JOHNSON, MURIEL (BARTON), 91, of Scituate, passed away unexpectedly in CT on July 2. She was the widow of Carl H. Johnson.

Born in Dayville, CT, she was the daughter of the late William and Martha Barton. Living in Scituate for over 65 years, she had been a secretary for the Scituate School Department before retiring. She was a longtime member of the North Scituate Baptist Church, as well as being a member of the Gentian Garden Club and the Scituate Preservation Society. In addition, Muriel was a lifetime member of The Order of Eastern Star.

Muriel is survived by her 3 children, David B. Johnson of Charlotte, NC, Robert G. Johnson of Rochester, NY, and Lynn R. Bischof of Traverse City, MI. She was a loving grandmother to 5 grandsons and 1 great grandson. She was the sister of the late Ernest Barton.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 22 at the North Scituate Baptist Church, 919 West Greenville Rd., North Scituate, RI. at 10 AM. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park in Johnston. Calling Hours will be Monday, July 21 from 4-7 PM at the Winfield and Sons Funeral Home, 571 West Greenville Road., Rt. 116, North Scituate. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the North Scituate Baptist Church, Memorial Fund.

My condolences to the family of Muriel. She was a classmate of mine, graduating in 1934 from Killingly High School. A lovely person whom I always admired.
