Raymond D. Fogarty

FOGARTY, RAYMOND D., 73, a life long resident of East Greenwich, died July 18, 2008 surrounded by his loving family after a brief struggle with lung cancer. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joan M. (Duffy) Fogarty.

Born in East Greenwich, he was a son of the late Patrick and Delia C. (Whalen) Fogarty.

Mr. Fogarty was employed at local manufacturing plants the last being A. T. Cross, where he retired as a shift supervisor. He was an Army Korean War veteran, an avid golfer and 30 year member of Potowomut Golf Club. In his retirement he pursued many interests, including horse back riding, air planes, cooking and the arts.

Besides his wife he is survived by his children; Raymond D., Jr., Donald J. and wife Mary Ann, Joseph E. and wife Jerilyn and Patricia J. and husband Thomas, grandchildren; Caitlin, Daniel, Brian, Nathan, Taf, Quinn, Margaret, Patrick and Kathleen, a sister; Rose Campion and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Patrick, William, Donald and Francis Fogarty, Agnes Mailloux and Mary Mangene.

Funeral Tuesday at 9:00am from the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of Mercy Church, Fourth Ave., East Greenwich. Burial with military honors will be in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours Monday 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers donation in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
