Ezio Bertoncini Obituary

BERTONCINI, EZIO 'BERT', 84, of Garvin Street, passed away peacefully Friday, July 18, 2008 in Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of the late Elinor Bertoncini

Born February 14, 1924 in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Antonio and Mary (Bette) Bertoncini. He resided in Cumberland for most of his life.

He was a Sergeant in the Army Air Corps serving our country during both WWII and Korea. He retired in 1974 as an Aircraft Inspector at the Quonset Naval Base. He later was employed by the Cumberland Highway Department.

He was a member of the He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 21. He was an avid hunter and fisherman all of his life.

He leaves one son, Philip Bertoncini of Pawtucket, one daughter Lisa Mooney, and son in law Peter of Cumberland; five grandchildren, Ian and Carley Mooney, Holly, Sean, and John Bertoncini, all of Cumberland. He also leaves behind his best buddy of over sixty years, Nick. He was the brother of the late Enrico Bertoncini, and Elba Barden.

Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday from 8-10 AM, in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Military Honors will follow. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the VNA of Rhode Island, 475 Kilvert Street, Suite 400, Bldg A, Warwick, RI 02886.
