Irene Smith-Hersey Obituary

SMITH-HERSEY, IRENE M. (ANDERSON) 'SALLY', 82, formally of Auburn Street died Wednesday at her Home. She was the wife of the late Ralph H. Smith and Charles W. Hersey.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Herbert C. and Irene (Trainor) Anderson, she had been a Cranston resident for most of her life. Mrs. Smith was a teacher at the Doric Day Nursery for 41 years retiring in 1990. She leaves 1 daughter, Janice A. Hill of Cranston; 2 sons Charles W. Hersey of Warwick and Donald C. Hersey of Cranston. 2 brothers, Herbert Anderson of Cranston and Donald Anderson of Pawcatuk, CT. 7 grandchildren, Michael W. Hersey, Donald C. Hersey II, Donella T. Gsell, Andrea Lamb, Kevin C. Hersey, Jamie L. Hill, and Kristina M. Hersey 5 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late John Anderson.

Funeral Services will be Friday at 1PM in the Frank P. Trainor & Sons Funeral Home, 982 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Calling Hours Friday from 11AM to 1PM. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory to Home & Hospice Care of RI 169 George St., Pawtucket, RI 02860 will be appreciated. Burial will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.

To the family of "Miss Sally":

I went to Doric Day School and camp for all of my childhood, through the age of 13. Miss Sally was a wonderful, kind woman who managed to keep us all in line :) God bless her; may she be at peace now.
