Rosalind Bailey Obituary

BAILEY, ROSALIND M. (MORIARTY), 79, of Fountain Avenue died Friday peacefully at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of John A. Bailey, Jr., a former State Representative from Providence District 17.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Thomas L. and Lillian H. (Woulfe) Moriarty.

She was an Assistant Buyer in the children's department of Gladdings Store, Providence for fifteen years, retiring in 1959. She was a communicant of Saint Catherine Church, Apponaug and a former communicant of the Church of the Assumption, Providence. She was a C.Y.O. Adult Advisor from 1952 to 1964. In 1962 she was nominated C.Y.O. Woman of the year, Providence South. She was a leader of the Campfire Girls Elmwood District from 1966 to 1976. She received the Saint Ann award from the Catholic Committee on Scouting. She received the Waken award from the Campfire Girls. She was a member of the Bishop Hendricken P.T.A. from 1972 to 1980. She was a member of the ladies Auxiliary William Shields Jr. American Legion Post #43, Warwick.

Besides her husband she is survived by one daughter, Joan M. Weedon of Warwick, two sons, Joseph G. Bailey of Denmark, Europe, John G. Bailey of Warwick, 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held on Monday at 7:45 a.m. from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Route 117) Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Catherine Church, Apponaug. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
