Charles Link Obituary

LINK, CHARLES A. 'BUD', 87, of Cranston and formerly of Jeanette, PA, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at Rhode Island Hospital.

The son of the late Andrew C. and Mary E. (Sullivan) Link, he was the brother of Mary June Shimmell of Riverview, MI and Ruth A. Link of Wyandotte, MI. He is also survived by six adoring nieces and two nephews, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was the brother of the late Claire L. (Link) Young of Wyandotte, MI. Bud will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

He attended UMass, Boston, as well as many specialized schools for electronics. He was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1945 and the US Navy in 1952. He was employed at NASA as a flight controller during the 'Gemini' space program and the Stratedgic Air Command. His RI employment included Gulton Industries, Inc. Mr. Link (W1HFC) was an avid amateur radio operator, and he spent many years as a formula auto race car driver.

A Memorial Service and interment will be held at Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock, MI. Arrangements are incomplete at this time.
