My brother John (known as "Johnny" to family and friends), was a coarse-sounding individual, but had a heart as soft and loving as you can imagine. As my big brother, I can't count the number of time he came to my rescue during our teen-age years. Thank You, Johnny. I love you, and will pray for you always.

Dear Mattia Family,
I knew John from Dialysis and felt like he was my own grandfather. He took me under his wing when I arrived there and I drew my stamina and inspiration from his good spirit daily. He truly touched my heart. He always spoke so fondly of all of you (and his times at Foxwoods). He was a great man, a great Patriot, and loved you all so much. I know he is in God's arms, where we will see him in the future (watching the Red Sox).

My dear Philly & Debbie,
After all of Johnny's years of suffering on this earth, I truly believe this has been a blessing. I'm sure he is now reposing in the conforting and loving arms of Jesus.
