C. Buckley Obituary
Born in Charleston, WV, he is the son of Carl T. and Jane Jeanie (Jacques) Buckley of Glocester. He had been a resident of Foster for five years and had previously lived in Glocester.
He had coached the Ponagansett High School Boys and Girls Basketball teams, the North Smithfield High School Boys Basketball team and Ponagansett Youth basketball. He was a referee for local town leagues and a volunteer for the Special Olympics. He was a member of the Glocester Lions and ran their golf tournament as well as the golf tournament for Camp Ruggles. He was a member of the Greenville Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Rhode Island College.
Besides his wife and parents he is survived by his three children; Patrick T., Michael C. and Daniel R. Buckley all of Foster, and his two sisters, Elizabeth Anderson of Terryville, CT, Jane Nelson of Greenville, SC, his maternal grandmother, Margaret (Richardson) Jacques of Smithfield and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held Monday at 11 am in Greenville Baptist Church, Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will follow in Acotes Hill Cemetery. Visitation Sunday 3 to7pm in the*ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Thomas Buckley Memorial Fund, c/o any Citizens Bank branch. What more can you say about a guy that couldn't always remember how he knew you or your name, but he effortlessly made you realize he was still the engaging down to earth guy you met 25 years ago. Dear Buckley Family:
I knew Tom for a short time, when we were 10 or 11 years old.... He was in my early classes at Ponaganset Middle School. We were a small class, in a small school back then, and everybody knew everybody; this was 37 years ago. Strange how those with whom we share even a brief, happy, innocent young friendship can seep into your heart for life as part of a long-ago cherished memory. Tom, among others with whom I shared those early years, is a part of those memories; even after so many years and so much life lived.... I feel the sadness of the loss of my long-ago friend.
I am sure he became every bit the warm, funny, and caring man spoken of in the other guestbook entries.

Marcia and the boys, Tommy was like another father to me. Always cracking jokes, making me laugh, when I knew I shouldn't have been laughing. Everytime I would leave from either my parents house after a red sox game, or an MLC concert, he would always say to me "Love Ya!". There aren't enough words to explain how much I am going to miss him. Not a day will pass without thinking about him. Hang in there, you know how much we all love you, and all of us will be there for you during this very hard time. I love you guys!
