First of all, my synpathy to the Almeida family. Ray was my coach in track back in 1974. One gym class he took me out to the track and made me run back to back two minute half miles, with just a one lap rest in between. Very hard, but I respected Ray so much he drove me to complete the task. Great guy. Will be missed but the memories will live forever. John

First of all, my deepest sympathies to Ray's family.
It was so nice to get to know Ray as a person (instead of just a teacher), but it saddens me that it was during his illness. Nonetheless, I enjoyed our conversations and was impressed by his courage, grace and humor during his last weeks. He undoubtedly impacted many during his career as a teacher, but what you may not know is the impression he left on the staff at The Miriam, myself included.
How fortunate he was to have had such a loving family by his side and supporting him throughout his hospitalization.
I wish you all peace throughout what I know is a difficult journey. You will be in my thoughts.

Joyce, Doug & Becky,
My heart is saddened this morning as I learned of Ray's passing. He was a wonderful man and a marvelous mentor to me. We shared many years of our lives together at work and I missed him daily. I will always remember him...the thoughtful, caring, gentle giant. My prayers are with all of you at this time; my heart, heavy. I will never forget him, our years together, or my special time on Hog Island. Peace be with you all.
Lovingly,
