John McEnery Obituary

McENERY, JOHN B. SR., 78, a resident of Tamarac and Orlando, FL, formerly of Rumford, RI, passed away Saturday, August 16th with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Geraldine (Burns) McEnery.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late William and Ellen (Buckley) McEnery. He graduated from LaSalle academy and Bryant College. He served in the Korean War. He founded Furnace and Duct Supply Co. of Providence in 1958. In his younger years he was an avid golfer and member of Pawtucket Country Club. His passions were thoroughbred horse racing and breeding and the Boston Red Sox.

He is survived by his beloved companion Betty Holloway of Orlando FL, his son John B. McEnery, Jr. and daughter-in-law Sharlot of Seekonk, MA, his son James P. McEnery of East Providence, and daughter Kathryn and son-in-law Christopher D'Ovidio of Warwick. He was the much loved grandfather of Chelsea, Carley and Mac McEnery of Seekonk, Grace D'Ovidio of Warwick, and Devin Kennedy of Orlando, FL.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 92 Hope St., Providence, RI. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name to The Jimmy Fund at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute would be greatly appreciated.

Condolences on your loss. I too have fond memories of Ferris Avenue and the sound of Sox games emanating from the "apartment." If I can't make it on Saturday, please consider me there in spirit.
