Donna Arnold Obituary

ARNOLD, DONNA M., a long time resident of Old Greenwich and Charlestown Rhode Island died peacefully in her home, August 29th, after an 8th month struggle with CJD.

Donna was born Sept. 20, 1954 to Tom and Rosa Arnold. She graduated Classical High School a Merit Scholar in 1972 and attended The University of Rhode Island. Donna earned a BA in 1976 and MBA in 1978 graduating Beta Gamma Sigma. After graduation she moved to New York City to pursue a career on Wall Street. Her academic success and fluent German earned her a position at Swiss Bank where she worked her way into the trading room. Known for her brilliance, hard work, ethical behavior and attention to detail, Donna was recruited by JP Morgan, promoted to VP and worked on the F/X and Bond trading floors. With the arrival of her second son Donna decided it was time to put her career on hold. After a decade of success in the financial markets she redirected full attention to her sons, Dominic and Victor. The love and devotion to her boys was immeasurable. Ever present at school and in the community both boys flourished under her care and were always a source of great pride and joy. Donna introduced them to lacrosse at an early age and became a passionate fan. When the family moved to Los Angles in 2000 and found it lacking an organized lacrosse program Donna went to work co-founding a viable league. Aside from her academic and professional accomplishments she was most proud of the award she received from the Pacific Coast Lacrosse Association for her involvement in founding the program. Along with lacrosse both sons wrestled and most certainly the gyms this season will be quieter for there was NO mom louder or more animated.

Donnas insatiable thirst for knowledge and dedication to education kept her busy. An active alumni of URI she served on the URI Trustee - Foundation Committee, Branding Steering Committee, Alumni Ram Fund Advisory Board, Communications Advisory Council, was the Alumni Winter Gala Host Chair 2004 - 2005 and helped manage the investment portfolio for the grad students.

An amazing wife for 29 years and best friend for 35 she is my inspiration and one true love.....the boys and I will miss her terribly every minute of every day.

Donna is survived by her husband, Tom Cerio, her two sons, Dominic and Victor, her parents, Tom and Rosa Arnold, two brothers Tom and Leo Arnold and her sister Linda Arnold.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Sat. September 6, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4 Riverside Ave. Riverside, CT. I was very saddened to hear of Donna's passing, which I just learned of only yesterday. I worked with Donna for a number of years at JP Morgan. She was a very accomplished member in fixed income sales, having been given some of the most visible and important foreign accounts. In her day, she set the gold standard.....very well informed, highly accomplished and with no limit of energy. I was not a bit surprised, in her obituary, to learn about all of her accomphishments post-Morgan. She was born to achieve. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and all of her family at this time of profound loss. May you be sustained by the countless memories you will always carry with you. Very best wishes, Sandy Faison

To the family of Donna M. Arnold, I wanted to express my deepest sympathies to you, in your time of need. I lost my sister four years ago in death and what helped me to ease the pain is the hope that the Bible holds our for our loved ones. In fact, Jesus, at John 5:28-29 spoke of a resurrection of our loved ones. What a wonderful time that will be to see our loved ones happy and healthy once more. I hope this scripture will be able to comfort you as it has me.

I had the good fortune of having Donna as our Team Mom when Victor was on our Town youth lacrosse team. She was tireless in her devotion to the team, a fan of all the boys in the very best sense and a role model for all of the parents. She was such a great support to the coaches, making it even more of a pleasure to coach Victor and his teammates. I enjoyed seeing her on the sidelines as years passed, cheering for her sons and for their teams, knowing how dear it is to children to have a loving parent at their games. She was so proud of her sons. I am truly saddended by her loss. I hope that the wonderful memories that Tom, Dominic and Victor carry will sustain them through these difficult moments. May her memory be a blessing.

To remember Donna from our days at Saint Paul's School was that she was always so happy and so friendly to everyone in our class.
We had a class reunion not long ago and she was the same Donna that everyone remembered for our days in grade school. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time. She was a wonderful person who showed her friendship and compassion to everyone around her.

Dear Tom, Dom and Victor, Our hearts are full of so much sorrow for the loss of your wife and mom and my friend. I will never forget her as being the proudest of Tom and his accomplishments and the boys in theirs. She always had a smile on her face, always asked me about my kids and what they were up to. She was so full of life, love and undenying friendship that she will never be forgotten. You all should feel so very blessed to have had a woman such as her in your lives, and never forget how many other lives she touched with her grace, beauty and love. If there is anything that I can do please never hesitate to call. Dom, Tyler sends his condolesences, and Victor, Brooke send hers, we all do.
Remember, always, that she was one of the luckest people in the world to have you all as her family.

With much love, Debbie, Jimmy, Tyler, Brooke and Katie Cabrera

Donna was the best of what a woman should be. I so enjoyed her letters from the hospital, she was clever and funny. I even told her she could be the Irma Bombeck of our generation. A day hasn't gone by that I wasn't thinking of her and my heart was breaking for her family. We will all miss her, but feel blessed for having known her.

T, I love you, bro. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be focused on you and your wonderful boys, Domenic and Victor. Betty, Tom and I are crushed and saddened by Donna's passing. We will sorely miss her genuiness, interest in others' lives and her open love and hospitality in every instance and abode into which she welcomed us. I will miss hearing Donna's voice saying "Tommy Geer!". Our love and sincere condolences go out to you, Dom, Victor as well as to Donna's loving family, Rose, Tom, brothers, sister and everyone who knew and loved her. My heart and soul are poured out. I look forward to Donna greeting me at heaven's door in her perfectness, which brings to mind Psalm 23:6: Surely goodness and love will follow [Donna] all the days of [her] life, and [she] will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
