Loretta Petrocchi Obituary

PETROCCHI, LORETTA A. (DelVICARIO), 66, of Loxley Drive, Johnston passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. She was the beloved and devoted wife of Ronald D. Petrocchi, Sr., Ret'd. Capt. JPD. They were married for twenty-nine years.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Angelo and Laura (Tomao) DelVicario. Loretta worked for over thirty years as a waitress for Ribs and Company in Johnston and Marchetti's Restaurant in Cranston.

Besides her loving husband, she was the devoted mother of Anthony J. DeFusco and his wife Susan of North Scituate, Stephen M. DeFusco and his wife Lori of Johnston and David P. DeFusco of Warwick. She was the cherished grandmother (Nana) to her six grandchildren, Nicholas, Sarah, Stephen, Joseph, Gina and David DeFusco. Loretta was the beloved sister of Carol Evangelista Pacheco and her husband Wayne of Westport, MA and the loving aunt of Michael R. Evangelista of North Scituate and Paul S. Evangelista and his wife Maria of Johnston and their two children Alexia and Angelo.

She was the stepmother of Laureen A. Petrocchi of Johnston and Ronald D. Petrocchi, Jr. and his wife Maria of San Diego, CA. Loretta is also survived by many aunts and cousins, especially Lorraine and Donald Richie of Glocester, all of whom will miss her dearly.

To know Loretta was to love Loretta. She loved to travel, was an avid shopper, adored decorating her home and cherished spending time with her loving family. She found the good in everything and believed anything was possible and there were no boundaries. Her life was about everyone else. Anyone who visited her home never left hungry. We will cherish Marguerita night, eating the donuts, Christmas Eve rocking to ZZ Top and waiting patiently to open the gifts and for every moment we spent with her. Her sudden death has left us all so empty but yet our hearts are so full of all her love, compassion and the beautiful memories she has left us with. She was one of the most beautiful women any of us could have ever been blessed to have touched our lives and she will remain in our hearts forever.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of her life on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Entombment will be in St. Joseph's Mausoleum in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

Dearest Family of Loretta,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. My mom, sister & I met Loretta at Ribs & Co. I work weekdays but would always try to go there for lunch when Loretta was working on Weds if I was off during the week. My Mom noticed her obituary in the paper and called me at work crying. She told me Loretta had suddenly passed away. We all loved her and agreed she was one of the nicest people we had ever met, so warm & friendly, always asking how my Mom was feeling because she had some health problems a couple of years ago. She was such a beautiful woman inside and out. She always talked about her husband and family and how important they were to her. As the sign shows outside of Ribs, "She will truly be missed". We are so fortunate to have known such a wonderful, rare individual. There should be more people out there like her to make this world a better place. Our prayers are with her and her family. Take Care.

To the Petrocchi Family,

I had the pleasure of meeting Loretta at curves. We worked out in the morning together. I tried to plan my exercise when I knew she was there. When I met her I felt an instant bond with Loretta, her vitality for life, her kind words, her love for her husband, children and grandchildren. We shared many things in common. She was a beautiful woman inside and out. My sincere condolences to you all at this time.

I will never forget her. God Bless you and your family.

Ron and family, I am shocked and saddened to hear of Loretta's passing. My Mom lived directly across the street until recently. I will never forget looking out the window and seeing Loretta dressed to the 9's - to go to work, the market, wherever! Hair and makeup perfect! And she was so full of life - where she got the energy, I don't know...but I envied her that. She was a beautiful woman - inside and out. I know how much she enjoyed family gatherings and the joy she derived from her beautiful grandchildren. Our loss is heaven's gain - she is truly an angel.

Dear Ron & Family,
We are truly sorry for your loss. You are so right in saying to know Loretta was to love her. She always had a smile on her face and in her heart, and always a kind word for everyone. I had the pleasure of working with Loretta for 10 years. She always thought of everyone and could not wait to go home and spend time with her family. My children always looked forward to Trick or Treat at your home, they couldn't wait to have her homemade brownies & cupcakes that she made for them each year. Some people can go their whole lives without the pleasure of knowing someone who is genuinely kind and sincere. I for one can say I have had the gift of friendship with such a person. I will never forget her and I hope you can find comfort in knowing the way she has touched everyone who has had the fortune to have known her. She will truly be missed by everyone who has been blessed with knowing such a treasured spirit.
Our Sincere Condolences To You & Your Family ,
