Joseph Morgan Obituary

MORGAN, JOSEPH, 85, of Aurora Drive, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2008. He was the husband of the late Mary Morgan. They were happily married for 40 years.

Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Thomas and Anne (Sullivan) Morgan. He had lived in Pawtucket nearly all of his life, before moving to Cumberland last year. Mr. Morgan was a Probation Officer for the State of Rhode Island for 35 years, retiring in 1983. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, stationed in Paris, France. He was the president of the Rhode Island Historical and Genealogical Society for many years. He was also a communicant and a Eucharistic minister at Saint Joseph Church in Pawtucket.

He is survived by two daughters, Sheila Field and her husband Calvin Field, of Seekonk, MA, and Anne Avelar and her husband Jose Avelar, of Cumberland; four grandchildren, Jonathan and Thomas Field and Daniel and Molly Avelar.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10am in Saint Joseph Church, Walcott Street, Pawtucket. Burial will be in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his honor to the American Heart Association, 275 Westminster St., Providence, RI 02903. Thank you Lord for sending Joe to us for a while. You sent one of Your finest, kind, witty and an example for us all. I told Joe I admided his new cap, he peeled it from his head and put it on mine and wouldn't take it back! Thats Joe!

Dear family, Our Joe will always be with us. His light shines bright and all who knew him are glowing laterns of goodwill toward all. He lives with Our Father in glory, forever. May we choose to follow in his footsteps.

Dear Ann.....Your Dad was a buddy to my brother Brendan and he was a pall bearer at Bren's funeral..... I think Joe was living with you in Pawtuket, but I have no cumberland address.....I want to send you a Mass card...........sincere sympathy to you all..............tom
