Upon returning from military duty in World War II as a member of the Army Air Corps serving in the China-Burma-India Theatre, George entered Brown University where he played basketball for the Bruins. He graduated from Brown in 1950 with a degree in civil engineering and was recruited by Bethlehem Steel where he immediately entered their management-training program. He completed his 33-year career with Bethlehem Steel as the Assistant District Sales Manager for the Northeast Region. He was a past president of both The Engineers' Club of Boston and the Boston Madison Square Garden Club. An avid golfer, he was a member of The Bald Peak Colony Club and The Brae Burn Country Club. He was a thirty-second degree Mason, a member of The American Legion and he supported several charitable and community organizations.

George was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He gave generously of his time and kind spirit to his family, friends and neighbors. His love, companionship, kindness, support, wisdom, and gregarious personality will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
