Joyce Schmutzler Obituary

SCHMUTZLER, JOYCE L. DelBONIS (SMITH), 76, of Cranston died at home Sunday after a period of declining health.

Born October 28, 1931, in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy (Roberts) and Frederick Smith. She was a graduate of Cranston High School and worked for the Bell telephone system in Providence and in Los Angeles, CA.

She was the wife of the late Alfred DelBonis and the late Kurt Schmutzler.

She enjoyed her family, crafting, travel, reading, the shore, and clamming. She was a lifelong member of the Washington Park United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by two daughters Paula DelBonis-Platt and her husband William of Contoocook, NH, Pamela Garabedian and her husband Jeffrey of Coventry, R.I., two stepsons Richard Schmutzler and his wife Christine of Farmingville, N.Y., Ronald Schmutzler and his wife Jean of Levittown, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, brother David Smith and his wife Joyce of Swansea, MA.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. in The Butterfield Chapel, 500 Pontiac Ave., Cranston. Her funeral will be held Friday at 8:45 a.m. from The Butterfield Chapel with a service at 10 a.m. in the Open Table of Christ (Washington Park) United Methodist Church, 1520 Broad St., Providence.
