Joseph Gannon Obituary

GANNON, JOSEPH J., 89, formerly of Smith St., North Providence died Tuesday, September 9, 2008 in Coventry Health Center. He was thee husband of the late Louise A. (Berry) Gannon.

Born in Everett, MA, a son of the late Joseph P. and Carrie A. (Lynn) Gannon. Mr. Gannon was the former owner of Gannon Catering Co. and a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II.

Surviving is a son Joseph J. Gannon, Jr. of West Greenwich; two daughters Louise Sweet of North Providence and Eileen Young of Cotter, AR; three sisters Helen Demattio, Dorothy D'Ambrosio and Mary Dean; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was the companion of Florence Draper. He was the brother of the late James Gannon, Rita Ryan and Alice Belafonte.

His funeral will be held Friday at 9 AM from the J.F. SKEFFINGTON CHAPEL, 925 Chalkstone Avenue, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Augustine Church, Mt. Pleasant Ave, at 10 AM. Burial with full military honors will be in R.I. Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Thursday 4-7 PM.

I'm sorry that's he's passed on, but I'm grateful that he had good people around him who loved him, and was blessed to live as long as he did. He was the closest thing to a grandfather I've ever known, and a greatly loved friend to both of my parents. I'll always love you Papa. Be at peace.
