Ferdinand Molak Obituary

MOLAK, DR. FERDINAND J., D.D.S., 88, of Tobie Avenue, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2008 at the Pawtucket Memorial Hospital from successive illnesses following a stroke in April of 2007. He was the beloved husband of the late Sophie A. (Mitera) Molak who passed away August 31, 2008. They had been married for 64 years.

Born in Central Falls he was a son of the late Joseph and Maria (Kara) Molak. He lived in Pawtucket most of his life.

A communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Central Falls he was a member of the parish Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Dr. Molak was a graduate of St. Louis University and St. Louis University School of Dentistry, where he was a member of the prestigious Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon.

Dr. Molak retired from Dentistry in 2004 after 60 years of active practice in Pawtucket. He was a long-term member of the American Dental Association and a Past President of the RI Dental Association. Dr. Molak was also a Past President of both the New England Dental Society and the Pawtucket District Dental Society.

He served on the Board of Directors of Delta Dental of RI until 1994, and thereafter as corporate member. Dr. Molak was also a member of other professional associations, including the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.

He was a U.S. Army Captain during WWII serving in the Dental Corp.

He leaves his loving children Sophia C. Mone and her husband Charles K. of Belmont, MA, Mary Ann Molak of Cambridge, MA, Ferdinand J. Molak Jr. Esq., of Pawtucket, Dr. Andrew J. Molak D.M.D. and his wife Ann M. of Barrington and Christopher J. Molak and his wife Marilyn J. of Coventry. He also leaves 8 grandchildren Christina Mone, Laura Mone, Nicholas, Elizabeth and Emily Molak, C. Nicholas, Jessica and Lucas Molak, 3 sisters Joan Varone of Pawtucket, Rose Pianka of Cumberland and Bertha Keenan of Weathers, CT, nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Dr. Walter J. Molak D.D.S., William Molak and Stefania Szczepanek.

Dr. Molak's funeral will be held Wednesday September 17, 2008 at 8:30 A.M. from the Karol A. Romenski & Sons Funeral Home, 342 High Street, Central Falls with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Church, 391 High Street, Central Falls at 10:00 A.M. CALLING HOURS TUESDAY FROM 4:00 P.M. TO 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations in Dr. Molak's name to St. Joseph's Church Building Fund, 391 High Street, Central Falls, RI 02863 would be greatly appreciated.
