John Brown Obituary

BROWN, JOHN C., 88, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2008. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy I. (Hesseman) Brown for 62 years.

Born in Central Falls, he was a son of the late Robert M. and Margaret (Mungo) Brown. John resided in Pawtucket most of his life.

He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. John was a quality control engineer at the Northrop Corporation, Norwood, MA for many years until retiring in 1986. He served as a lay minister at area nursing homes and small churches. John was affiliated with the New Dawn Ministry, Grace and Hope Mission and The Salvation Army, serving as Corps Sergeant Major of the Pawtucket Salvation Army. He hosted 'Thoughts To Live By' a religious show that aired on CBS; was Past President of the MORA Club and served as President of the Pawtucket Senior Citizens Council in 1997.

Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Dorothy Frechette and her husband James and Susan Brown; one son, Robert Brown and his wife Denise and his granddaughter Nicole Frechette. He was the father of the late John Brown and the brother of the late Daniel Brown, Janet Healey, Annie Smith, Robert Brown and Margaret Johnson.

Services will be held Saturday at 12 noon at WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Interment will follow at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
