Donald S. Bernstein

BERNSTEIN, DONALD S., of 20 Meadow Lark Dr., died Monday at The Scandinavian Home, Cranston. He was the beloved husband of Sylvia (Premack) Bernstein.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, a son of the late Samuel and Sophia (Goldstein) Bernstein, he had lived in Providence for 81 years prior to moving to Cranston 9 years ago. He was the owner of Bernstein Optometry in Providence for 59 years, retiring 9 years ago. He was a graduate of Massachusetts School of Optometry, Class of 1938. Donald was a member of Touro Fraternal Association and Temple Am David.

Devoted father of Ellen Shaw and her husband Sanford of Cranston and the late Gerald Bernstein. Dear brother of Lillian Ryan of Quincy, MA and the late Bert Bernstein. Loving grandfather of 1. Cherished great-grandfather of 3.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in SHALOM MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1100 New London Ave., Cranston. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Temple Am David or Scandinavian Home. Shiva will be observed at his late residence Saturday 7:30-9 and Sunday, Monday & Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
