Manuel Castanho Obituary
Born in East Providence, he was the son of the late Jose and Mary (Cabral) Castanho.
Manny was a Parts Manager for Saccucci L&M in Middletown for 22 years before retiring in 1992. He was a lifelong avid golfer and sports fan. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
Besides his wife of 56 years, he is survived by his children; Joan Chapdelaine of Vineyard Haven, MA, Martina Fortunato of East Lyme, CT, David Castanho of Westerly, RI and Stephen Castanho of Edgartown, MA. He was the grandfather of Ensign Elise Chapdelaine, Michele Chapdelaine, Tiffany and David II Castanho, Daniel and Michaela Fortunato. He was the brother of Agnes Moniz of NY, Irene Rossilli of MA and the late Margaret Oliver.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 8:45AM from the Rebello Funeral Home, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM in St. Augustine's Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Providence, RI. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5-8PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Augustine Church, Mother Teresa Society. www.rebellofuneralhome.com

I can't ever imagine a family gathering without "Square" or "round" as Mumzie used to say. The life of the party, always bringing us laughter and tears! To have known him and to have been fortunate to share in the joy that he brought us all, I will always be grateful. What a truly wonderful man he was. My love and prayers go out to you all.
