Georgina Monteiro Obituary

MONTEIRO, GEORGINA M. (FRIEL), 68, of Sleepy Hollow Drive, passed away peacefully, Friday, October 3, 2008 at home. She was the beloved wife of Bernardino A. Monteiro.

She was the former Director of the Day Activity Center and Coordinator of Rehabilitation Services at Mental Health Services in Cranston. She later became the Director of Activities at the Louis Feinstein Alzheimer's Center, retiring in 1997.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two stepdaughters, Julie Murnin of Cumberland, and Donna Victor of Deerfield Beach, Florida, a stepson, Christopher Monteiro of Coventry, two sisters, Gloria Spaulding and Joyce Baron, both of Maine. She was the sister of the late Edward Friel.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from the O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 5-8 p.m.

I was so very sorry to read of Georginas passing. She was a special lady, so kind to all. We worked together, as teenagers, for the Rec Dept. for the town of Millinocket. We spoke of her at our 5oth class reunion this past August-she will be missed. Sincerely, Judy Stevens Herrick
