J. Charland Obituary

CHARLAND, J. EDWARD 'POPPY', 87, of Cranston and formerly of Pawtucket, passed away Monday, October 06, 2008 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Francis) Charland.

Mr. Charland lived most of his life in Pawtucket before moving to Cranston in 1985. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He was the owner of J.E. Charland Oil Company of Pawtucket for many years, retiring in 1986.

He is survived by two sons, Joseph Charland of Cranston and Edward Charland of Florida, four daughters, Jean Litton of North Carolina, Robin Andrade of S. Easton, MA, Diane Lanoie of N. Attleboro, MA, and Dorothy McNamara of N. Providence, 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Patricia Charland. He was the brother of the late Albert and Raymond Charland.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 9am from the COSTIGAN-O'NEILL Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Sacred Heart Church, 38 Park Street, Pawtucket. Burial with military honors will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8pm.
