I knew Arthur when he lived on Progress Street in Pawtucket back in the 1930/40s. We were the same age. I lived at 253 Glenwood Avenue

I would stand in his yard and call him. His mother would come to the door and say "Artur gone up yonder."

Whenever I went into his house, the floors were spotless and shining. his mother placed newspapers on the floor on which we were to walk.

When we were about seven years old Arthur and I got into a fist fight in front of the Woodlawn Laundry owned by the Carriers. I ended up with a bloody nose. does that mean that I lost the fight?

Many a day we used our sleds together on the snowy Progress Street and Glenwood Avenue hills.

In the summer, we would help ourselves to the tomatos, apples, grapes and cherries growing in the Krieger and Wildenhein/Gibbons yards.

I guess that the last time I saw Arthur was when we were about fifteen/sixteen years of age.

I wish that I had known that he had a club in East Providence. I would love to have stopped in and talked with him. Maybe we could have resumed the fight where he had given me a bloody nose.
