Norman Bilsky

BILSKY, NORMAN, 88, of Cranston, died Oct. 14, 2008. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Caroline (Castiglioni) Bilsky to whom he was married for 34 years.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Jacob and Rose (Solomon) Bilsky. He was a 1942 graduate of Providence College with a Bachelor's Degree in American History. A WWII U. S. Army veteran, he was a part of the Occupation Forces that aided in rebuilding Japan after the bombing of Nagasaki, working as a Telephone and Telegraph Installer. He was awarded the Campaign Medal for his service. Following the war he worked for New England Telephone Co. as a Technician for over 37 years retiring in 1983. He was a member of the IBEW Local 2323, Providence College Alumni Assoc., Verizon Telecom Pioneers and the Providence Turners, where he was an active volunteer for over 40 years and served as the controller. He had also worked as a union waiter in various local hotels and social clubs.

He will always be lovingly remembered by his family for his dedication, great pride and love.

He leaves his five children; Gail Frigon, with whom he lived, and her husband Joseph of Cranston, Norma Pigeon and her husband Gary of Warwick, Paul Bilsky and his wife Doreen of Chepachet, William Bilsky and his wife Melanie of Cranston, and Jean Pigeon and her husband Brian of Exeter. He was the brother of Morton Bilsky and his wife Lois of Framingham and the late Donald Bilsky. Devoted grandfather of Gary, Jacob, Jennifer, and Jason Pigeon, Joshua and Samantha Bilsky, and Robert and Lauren Feeney; and great grandfather of Nicholas Pigeon.

A Graveside Service will be held Fri., Oct. 17, 2008 at 11:00 A.M., in Lincoln Park Cemetery, 1469 Post Rd., Warwick. Relatives & friends invited. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to: Providence Turners, 118 Glenbridge Ave., Providence, RI 02909. Shiva will be private. The family was assisted with the arrangements by SUGARMAN-SINAI MEMORIAL CHAPEL.
