Phyllis Miller Obituary

MILLER, PHYLLIS A., formerly of Hedley Circle died Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at the Hattie Ide Chaffee Home. She was the wife of the late John R. Miller.

She was born in Providence a daughter of the late Howard M. & Edith M. (Coppinger) MacDonnell. Mrs. Miller was an Executive Secretary to the president at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company before retiring. She was a Navy veteran of World War II having served with the Waves & was Honorably Discharged in 1945.

Mrs. Miller was an accomplished bridge player & artist & donated her artwork & her time to fundraising efforts in support of Hamilton House Senior Center. She was also an active volunteer at Hattie Ide Chaffee Nursing Home. She enjoyed line dancing & was a communicant of St. Martha Church.

She leaves one daughter, Linda Tucker of Portsmouth; one son, J. Barry Miller of South Kingstown & two grandchildren, Derek H. Miller & Emily Perry. She was the sister of the late Howard MacDonnell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 A.M. in St. Martha Church, Pawtucket Ave., East Providence. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. Contributions to Hamilton House, 276 Angell St., Providence, RI 02906 would be deeply appreciated. Arrangements by the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME.
