Anna Meek Obituary

MEEK, ANNA MARGARET 'PEGGY', 91, of Harmony, RI, died Monday, October 13, 2008 at Philip Hulitar Hospice in Providence after a long illness. She was married to the late Ben W. Meek and was the daughter of Harvey Edgar and May Allen (Post) Newell. She lived in Ft. Wayne until her move to Harmony.

She is survived by her brother Harvey Newell, Grand Rapids, MI; four children, Harriet, Albuquerque, NM; Thomas, Ft. Wayne, IN; Jeffrey, Harmony, RI; Jonathan, Hadley, MA; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Following the tradition set by her mother, she was active in Girl Scouting, eventually rising to Council President. Peggy was deeply involved in activities at Trinity and St. Alban's Episcopal Churches in Ft. Wayne, IN and also Homebound Meals. She served as personnel manager of the former Montgomery Wards Ft. Wayne for a number of years.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana, 10008 Dupont Circle Dr. East, Ft. Wayne, IN 46825; Homebound Meals, 611 W. Berry St., Ft. Wayne, IN 46802, and St. Alban's Church, 7308 S. Joe Road, Ft. Wayne, IN 46835.

A memorial service will be held at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 7308 St. Joe Road, Ft. Wayne at 11 A.M. Saturday November 8, 2008.

So sorry to hear about your loss. I first met Peggy when I moved to Fort Wayne and was on the Camp Committee. The Logan Alumni would like to see a memory stone for her in the memory garden at Camp Logan.
