Margaret Vartian Obituary

VARTIAN, MARGARET A. 'PEGGY' (POWERS) , 83, of Rhode Island Street, Cranston, died unexpectedly on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence after being stricken at home. She was the wife of the late Sesak H. 'Sal' Vartian.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Bridget (Murray) Powers. She resided in Cranston for over forty years. Mrs. Vartian was a candy maker for Jane Arden Candy for over forty years until her retirement.

She is survived by her children, John M. Porter and his wife Charlotte of Cranston, Margaret 'Peggy' Burns and her husband Robert of North Providence, Kathleen A. Minicucci and her husband Stephen of Johnston and the late Raymond T. Porter. Mrs. Vartian was the grandmother of Michael, Kevin and Lynne Porter, Wayne and Frank Murphy, Michelle Miale and Michelle and Stephen Minicucci. She was the great-grandmother of fourteen. Mrs. Vartian was the sister-in-law of Catherine Albanese and her husband Richard of Cranston. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ann's Church, 1493 Cranston Street, Cranston and may call at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in North Burial Ground, Providence.
