Daniel Tabela Obituary
Born in East Providence on April 9, 1923, he was a son of the late Frank P. and Henrietta (Lomba) Tabela. Mr. Tabela was a Navy veteran of WWII and also served with the Merchant Marines. Later he was a truck driver for M.S. Alpers and for A. Bazar & Sons. Before retiring he worked security detail for Kelly Security at Harold's Furniture.
He is survived by his two daughters, Carol A. Andrews and Jacqueline Ransom, both of Riverside; two grandchildren, Oliver F. Andrews III and Nichole C. Andrews; and his two great grandchildren, Cristian J. Woods and Oliver F. Andrews IV. He was the brother of Rose Mendes of East Providence, Esther Gomes of Stoughton, MA, Dorothy Wasilewski of Cranston, Eileen Aubin of Woonsocket, Marie Galembeski of Woonsocket, and of the late Edward Tabela, Anna Allen, Mary Santos, John Tabela and Jack Tabela.
His funeral will begin Friday morning at 7:45 a.m. from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Brendan's Church, Turner Ave., Riverside. Military honors and burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday 4-8 p.m. www.rebellofuneralhome.com

Dear Carol and Jackie,
Here is a situation where a smile will prevail in my heart. I am so happy that (for whatever reason) I choose to be in Providence a couple of weeks ago! I had that chance (that so many often miss) to give (Uncle Danny) a hug and a kiss. Not only this, I enjoyed his wit, chit-chatting, and most of all… his wonderful attitude in view of his demise… during the brief visit.
Living out of state does not permit me to have a final good bye with (my senior) family members so the visit with Uncle Danny will surely leave a wonderful and special memory for me.
My heart goes out to you both and the Tabela family members, in the loss of a father, grandfather, great-grandfather and/or relative. I am sure he enjoyed his life and final days via his family and friends that so loved and cared for him.
I know how much you both will miss your father's presence.
The memories are what will linger putting that same smile in your hearts that I had in my heart after the hospital visit with Uncle Danny!

To Carol, Drew, Nikki and the entire family,
Words cannot express the heartfelt condolances I would like to extend to you all at this most difficult time. Dan will always be remembered by me for his kind, quite, composed, tolerant style. He always greeted me with a smile and shared his laughter as well as his worldly wisdom with me. He made me feel his concern for me was genuine and caring.
