Daniel O'Connor Obituary

O'CONNOR, DANIEL F., 76, of Nate Whipple Highway passed away Wednesday, October 29 in the Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket.

Born in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John J. and Margaret M. (Devlin) O'Connor. He was a life-long Cumberland resident.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict, earning the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. O'Connor was an Engineer for the Raytheon Company, for 20 years, retiring in 1991. He was previously employed by Honeywell Inc. for 10 years.

He was a member of the Israel Couture Post #2274, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ashton, RI.

He leaves one brother John F. O'Connor, and his wife June of Cumberland; sister-in-law Lois R. O'Connor of Chepachet; two nephews, Kevin O'Connor, and Robert O'Connor; seven nieces, Robin McVeigh, Lynn Tucker, Susan Walsh, Kathleen Ballou, Peggy Burbank, Stephanie Fawcett, and June O'Connor; twelve great nieces and nephews; and four great-great nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert J. O'Connor, and Hugh M. O'Connor; and uncle of the late John F. O'Connor, Patricia O'Connor, and Timothy O'Connor.

His funeral with military honors will be held Monday, November 3, 2008 at 10 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd., Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in the Historic St. Joseph Church, Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Cumberland.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling Hours will be held 4-8 PM on Sunday November 2.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Annie's Angel Fund, PO Box 900, Chepachet, RI 02814.
