Irving Harriet Obituary

HARRIET, IRVING, 98, of Pawtucket, died November 7, 2008. He was the husband of the late Lillian Harriet.

Born in Romania, a son of the late Lazarus and Rachel (Leibovici) Harriet, he came to Rhode Island at the age of 9, and had lived in Pawtucket most of his life.

Mr. Harriet was a member of Temple Emanu-El, and the Jenks Lodge of the Masons. In his youth he played semi-professional tennis, and enjoyed playing basketball at the Jewish Community Center.

He is survived by his children, Rochelle Jaffe of Bedford, MA, Edith Harriet of Washington, DC and Dr. Sydney Harriet of Fresno, CA; and his grandchildren, Benjamin and Eric Jaffe. He was the grandfather of the late Eve Jaffe and the brother of the late Max and Jack Harriet.

The funeral service will be held Monday, November 10th at 10:00 AM at Sugarman-Sinai Memorial Chapel, 458 Hope St., Providence with burial in Lincoln Park Cemetery, Warwick. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 169 George St., Pawtucket, RI 02860. Shiva will be private.

just wanted to let you know how sorry i was to hear about Irving. thinking about him i realized we have known each other my entire life and my parents sylvia and max Feldman were so close with your parents. what great memories i have of them playing cards together, those tuesday night card games, and my father was close with them until he died stopping to see him in Central Falls. so like judy said an era gone but never forgotten. love ann feldman brown

Hard to believe that Irving was 98 years old !!! The last time I saw him he looked exactly the same as always... It seemed he never changed..... We have so many memories..... an era now has ended...with his passing.... so sorry for your loss......
