Barbara Yankee Obituary
Born in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Einar and Elvira (Persson) Swanson.
She served her country as a WAC during the Korean War as a Medic receiving basic training at Camp Breckinridge, KY. She continued in the nursing profession specializing in home care for the elderly for 50 years. She was an active member of BVCAP, participating in many community activities from 1965 to 1970.
Besides her husband she is survived by 9 children, Ginger Soucie, Gerald Yankee, Sr. and Francis Yankee of Cumberland, Paul Yankee & Karl Yankee of Lincoln, Joseph Yankee, Jr. of Warwick and Jo Ann Clark, Brenda Barrette and Ivy Gray of Augusta, GA. She is survived by 30 grandchildren and 28 Great grandchildren. She was the sister of Raymond Swanson, Ivy Barrows and the late Melvin Swanson.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Salvation Army in Barbara's memory. Memorial service will be held at a later date.

Aunt Barbara you were truly a blessing to everyone who ever met you. You have helped so many people throughout your years on this earth. My dear friend Mrs. Yankee,
I cannot thank our good Lord enough for blessing me with the privelege of having you in our lives. Having lost my Grandmother a few months after marrying Doris, I sort of adopted you as my "memere". Over the years, Doris has shared many wonderful memories of growing up in the village under your caring and trusted wings. I thank you for that. There really are angels here on earth~you were one of their brightest! It is my prayer that I can grow old and my grandchildren will look to me also as one with the love, integrity and unselfish caring heart that you possess.

Aunt Barbara, you have gone to a place where you can have peace/fun with others from our Big Yankee family who have gone before you. I'm sure my mom will show you the ropes. You are now an angel to watch over your family as you have done for many years here on earth. I have all good memories of my times growing up around you and my cousins. Aunt Barbara was a big part of my life as I grew up, while we lived with my mom & Jerry on weekends.
I could go on with all the fun we all had on weekends & holidays, but lots of you remember too.
My thoughts are with you, as are my prayers. I am happy to think she is with all of her loved ones .. watching over all of us.
