John Silliphant Obituary

SILLIPHANT, JOHN 'JACK' F., 81, of Larry Lane, Riverside, died Friday, November 7, 2008. He was the husband of the late Dolores (Costa) Silliphant, who died August 19, 2008.

Born May 29, 1927, in Chelsea, MA, he was a son of the late Charles F. and Vera (Porter) Silliphant. He served in the Seabees, Navy and then retired from the U. S. Coast Guard. During his USCG career he served on the USCG cutters Buttonwood, Courier (Voice of America), Mellon, Eagle and Vigilant. After his military retirement he worked for Megatherm in East Providence. He was a 55 year veteran member of the Mount Vernon Lodge #4 Free and Accepted Masons of Rhode Island.

Mr. Silliphant leaves his son, Jack F. Silliphant of East Providence; his daughter, Jody Ann Hegner of Norwell, MA; and his granddaughter, Georgia Hegner. He was also the brother of Melba Martin of Florida and of the late Robert Martin and Barbara Pudjunis.

A service will begin Thursday at 11am in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence. Military honors and burial will follow at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.

Jack and Jody Ann,
I send my sincere condolances for the loss of your Father. I have many fond memories of he and I together that will last my lifetime. He was a Father figure, a comedian and best of all a great Friend. I will miss him.
