Leon Ewin Obituary

EWIN, LEON R., 83, of Kowalik Dr., passed away Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the West Shore Health Center, Warwick. He was the husband of Lorraine M. (Potvin) Ewin for 64 years.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late William and Ella (Many) Ewin-Richard and the stepson of the late Henry Richard.

Leon, a longtime West Warwick resident, was employed for 12 years, in the Security Police Department for Brown University, retiring in 1987. He previously worked at the former American Hoechst, Coventry and Taco Inc. of Cranston. He graduated from West Warwick High School in 1943 and served as a Corporal in the US Marine Corps during WWII. Leon enjoyed canning homemade jams, listening to music, swimming, and the N.Y. Yankees.

He was the father of Gary W. Ewin of Warwick and Paula J. Ewin of New York City. Step brother to Rita Doucette, Dorothy Loranger, and Doris Ewin.

His funeral will be Monday at 9 am from the Robert A. Iannotti Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., (Rte. 117), Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Christ the King Church. Burial with military honors in RI Veterans Cemetery. Visiting hours Sunday 3-6 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the J. Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center, 3445 Post Rd., P.O. Box 7789, Warwick, RI 02887-7789 or Odyssey Healthcare, 2374 Post Rd., Ste. 206, Warwick, RI 02886 will be appreciated.

Dear Lorraine, Paula and Gary,
I was so saddened to hear about the loss of Leon. He was a sweet sweet man, great husband, Dad and all around great guy. Please take comfort in knowing he is in Heaven looking down on you and sending his love from above.
