Edward Magill Obituary

MAGILL, EDWARD L., 67, of North Smithfield, died Friday evening at Landmark Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Marie (Cimini) Magill. Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Alexander and Catherine (Pierce) Magill.

He was the original owner and operator of Magill Laboratories Inc., which his son Edward Jr. now operates.

Edward was a N. Smithfield resident for many years. He grew up in Pawtucket, where he attended St. Raphaels Academy. He later graduated from Bryant University. He was a member of the N. Smithfield Planning Board for a number of years. In earlier years, he enjoyed coaching the N. Smithfield Girls Little League softball teams, teaching CCD and was a Grand Knight of the Pawtucket Knights of Columbus.

Besides his wife, he is survived by children, Barbara Magill of Boulder, CO and Joanne Peterson of N. Smithfield and Edward L. Magill, Jr., of Bath, NH; grandchildren, Casey and Kyle Peterson and Fiona Grubin; a brother, Richard Magill of Pawtucket; two sisters, Catherine DeCataldo of N. Smithfield, Linda Church of Pawtucket and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Alexander, Robert, William, Raymond Magill and Margaret DelPapa.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9 am from the Keene-Brown Funeral Home, 445 Greenville Rd., N. Smithfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. John the Evangelist Church, Slatersville. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 5-8 pm.
