Poppo, whatta a wonderful soul.
When you spoke, oh whatta voice!!
Thank you for your
inspiration and wisdom.
Sometimes there were no words
only a shoulder to lean on, a hand to hold
and hug to share. My deepest heartfelt
condolences.

Walter was a wonderful man and an inspiration to work with on "The Wife and I" in the early 50's. - Shirley May France, English Channel Swimmer

I'll always remember how much I enjoyed hearing Mr Covell's booming voice in the choir at St John's, especially at Christmas. And I have enjoyed many a word puzzle created by him. They were quite a challenge and fun. What an interesting and talented man. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

As President of The Roger Williams Family Association I speak on behalf of all our members. Last Saturday we were gathered in Newport for our monthly meeting and noted Walter's absence. He was a respected and beloved member of our group. We share in your grief for the loss of our cousin and our dear friend.

I simply could not be any sadder - I hosestly didn't think this day would ever happen. Walter was not only family, he was a dear friend that cared.

Walter was one the most wonderful and interesting men I've ever met. His sight reading ability at age 90, in choir, was remarkable even though his sence of pitch was waning. He was a wonderful reader - a great actor, when I heard him read the lesson in church. He was an interesting, fun person with a great sence of humor. He was a great man. A talent of this magnitude will not be seen for a long time to come. I will miss him.

So sorry to read about Walter in this morning's ProJo.com. We saw him just recently at his sister's (Ruth's) 90th birthday party. Bob had a really nice conversation with him. He always loved to ask for our son Brad - because when Brad was born he loved his name - Bradford Walker Sprague - he had great fun with it over the years!! I sang in the choir with him for many years - a wonderful man - will miss seeing him around and about. Love to his family.
