Donald Richard Obituary

RICHARD, DONALD C. JR., 72, of Aldrich Road died Friday, December 12, 2008 at Kent County Memorial Hospital, Warwick. He was the husband of Jean M. (Pizzuti) Richard and the husband of the late Ann C. J. (Pickhover) Richard.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, a son of the late Donald C. and Ella (Derry) Richard, he had lived in Pawtucket for 26 years before moving to Glocester 23 years ago.

Mr. Richard was a machinist and later an electronic assembler for Brown & Sharpe Manufacturing Co., North Kingstown for 32 years, retiring in 1998.

An active mason, he was a past master of Jenks Lodge #24, F. & A.M., Pawtucket, the secretary of Daylight Lodge #48, F. & A.M., Cranston and was the Grand Lecturer for the Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons for the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. He was an honorary member of Mount Moriah Lodge #8, F. & A.M., Lincoln.

He served in the Rhode Island Army National Guard during peacetime. He also served on the Board of Wardens for the Harmony Fire Department for several years.

He was a communicant of St. Philip's Church, Greenville.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Catherine L. 'Cathy' Richard of Warwick; two sons, Donald C. 'Doni' Richard III of Warwick and Peter L. Richard of Mt. Juliet, TN; two stepdaughters, Patricia Ciarlo and Susan Staniorski, both of Scituate; one stepson, Richard Springob of Grafton, MA; one brother, Robert Richard of Guilford, CT; ten grandchildren; two great granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

A Masonic Service will be held MONDAY, DECEMBER 15 at 6:30 P.M. at BELLOWS-FALSO FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held TUESDAY, DECEMBER 16 at 9:30 A.M. in St. Philip's Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at BELLOWS-FALSO FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln MONDAY 3-7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Richard's memory to CHIPS, c/o Grand Lodge of RI, 222 Taunton Avenue, East Providence, RI 02914 would be appreciated. Our sincere condolances to Clayton's family. Clayton and I have been friends since junior high school. We spent much time together during our school years. We still kept in touch after high school years and after that by e-mail. He will be missed by both of us.

He was always a very helpful and knowledgeable person & mentor. He was a caring man and talked offten about taking care of his father's illness. He will be sadly missed.
