Virginia Kahla Obituary

KAHLA, VIRGINIA (PARSIGIAN), 81, of Liberty Street, passed away peacefully Monday, August 20, 2007 at home. She was the beloved wife of George Kahla. They were happily married for 58 years.

Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Araxie (Altounian) Parsigian. Mrs. Kahla was a member of Saint Basil's Altar Sodality, the Senior Citizen's Organization, and their Sunshine Committee; she also was a member of the National Association of Melkite Women. She was a devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed cooking and was an avid reader.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Christine Gallonio of Glocester and Charlene Aubin of Elmont, New York, one sister, Isabelle Panosian of Pawtucket. She was the sister of the late Mary Emory.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in Saint Basil The Great Church, 15 Skyview Drive, Lincoln. Burial will be in Saint Basil's Cemetery, Cumberland. Visiting hours Wednesday 5-8 p.m. in Saint Basil's Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint Basil's Building Fund or the ALS Assn., 2915 Post Rd., Warwick, RI 02886, in memory of Mrs. Kahla, would be appreciated. Arrangements by the Costigan-O'Neill Funeral Home, Pawtucket.
