Gladys Crowell Obituary

CROWELL, GLADYS H. (BAKER), 95, died at the Linn Health Center in East Providence.

Born in Brockton, MA June 3, 1912 the daughter of the late Walter and Evie (Davis) Baker, she attended Franklin, MA schools including Franklin High School. She graduated from the former Providence Bible Institute in 1939 and was subsequently employed as Administrative Secretary and Assistant Registrar at the former Barrington College in Barrington for 41 years retiring in 1980.

She was married to the late Ray E. Crowell in 1960 and has resided in Providence, Barrington, Riverside and most recently East Providence. She was a former member of the Faith Presbyterian Church, Cranston, RI where she taught Sunday School and for many years the Barrington Baptist Church where she served in many capacities including the Adult Activities Committee.

Her greatest joys were her Church, her family, music and being active. She was proud to keep her own home until at age 93 when she moved to Winslow Gardens Assisted Living Facility in East Providence.

She was the sister of the late Grace Chadbourne, Roger Baker, Florence Callahan, Donald Baker, Richard Baker and Arlene Smith. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Helen Baker in Franklin, MA, a step-daughter, Jean C. Booth and husband Rev. Robert Booth of Quakertown, PA, 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Barrington Baptist Church, Old County Road Barrington on Sunday, September 9th at 2 PM. The Public is invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Barrington Baptist Church. Visit smithmason.com for information and on-line condolences.
