I graduated from Scituate High School in 1959 and was on the football and basketball teams. George left me with the lifetime habit of giving the "old college try" in all my endeavors. I'm glad I had the opportunity to thank him for his influence, in my successes in life, at our last class reunion. I'm also glad I got to sit with him during dinner that night. He'll live on in my memories for the rest of my life.

Dear Barbara,Julie,Heidi,Lise and Curt,
Our condolences for your loss.We were so saddened to hear about George. We remember going to Uncle Charlie and Uncle Jim's cottages each summer and George, as well as all the Green Hill Nagels...past and present, always went out of their way to say "Hi" and keep us updated with whatever happened to family, friends and GH neighbors over the winter months. As years past and our going to GH wound down, our thoughts and memories of the Nagel family still remain fondly in our hearts. To George: give our best to Gus, Mrs. Nagel and Auntie Billie.
Love, Diane and Skip

Dear Mrs. Nagel & Family,

Mr. Nagel persuaded me to be the scorekeeper for the 1953-55 Aldrich basketball teams. While not an athlete, I really enjoyed the experience. At our last reunion, he told me some interesting anecdotes about my father, Harold F. Scott.

Please accept my sincere condolences.

Dear Mrs. Nagel,
My sincere sympathy to you and your family. George was my high school basketball coach at Aldrich in 1954 & 1955. It was my privilege to have played for him. I only wish that I could have had George as a coach in 1956 at Warwich Vets. He was a very positive influence on me at Aldrich. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

To Julie and family,
In the years at Green Hill Beach, your dad was always one to say hello, give a good story, and bust a little chops as well. I always enjoyed talking with him. One thing that stood out with George is that he loved his family and he loved life. My condolences to your entire family.

To the Nagel family, my deepest condolences.
George was a phys-ed teacher of mine at Aldrich Junior High School in the early 50's. He was always a positive influence. When I joined the EGYC in 2002, I ran into George and family. I couldn't believe that he remembered my name.

He will surely be missed by all.

Mr. Nagel was the principal at E.G. High when I was a student there. Later in life he was my neighbor for the past 17 years.
When you saw George driving down the street or raking leaves in his front yard you'd have to smile because you knew as he passed by
or you drove by him, he'd have some funny wisecrack for you.
He loved the nieghborhood kids
and took a genuine interest in them. Our neighborhood will surely miss him as my family will.

My sympathy to Mr Nagel's family, I am so sad to hear that he has passed away he was such a great man. I was a Senior at Cranston West in 86 his last year as principal. God know's after our class he probably needed to retire! I can't tell you how many morning's I sat in Principal's office waiting for the girls dean to give me yet another detention and Mr. Nagel was always smiling and kidding around asking what I and everyone else waiting had done this time. I am surprised he never showed up at our breakfast hangout to catch us all in the act since I always would tell him ...yeah we had to go to Helen's for breakfast before we showed up 2 hrs late for school, cut class when we left to go out for lunch. He really could have expelled us for all the times my friends and I showed up late or when we sneaked out of school early! He knew that I was a good kid and told me so many times, I was just a bit too restless in the confines of high school.

I ran into Mr. Nagel a few years after high school when he came into a furniture store that I worked in ...he actually had won a contest for free furniture! He was just so sweet asking me how I was and what I planned to do with the rest of my life....I guess now that he is in heaven he will see that I did find my way ....one thing that hasn't changed I'm still always late ...but since I work for myself, I don't get called to the principals office for it. I will always remember him with fond memories. Keep good company with the Angels in Heaven Mr Nagel.

Mrs. Nagel, Julie, Heidi, Curt and Lise,
Please accept my condolences on Mr. Nagel’s passing.
Mr. Nagel was a caring, appreciative and respectful person. It was a privilege to have had the opportunity to be a substitute teacher during Mr. Nagel’s last year at Cranston West. Whenever I saw him at the beach club, he would ask how my teaching was going and how things were in Cranston.
Mrs. Nagel, Julie, Heidi, Curt and Lise, may the good memories of your husband and dad bring you comfort during this time.
Sincerely,
Jean

To the Nagel family,
I am very sorry for your loss. Mr Nagel was always a source of a good story and life lessons, as well as an opinion (sometimes strong!). While the news of his departure was sudden, I was happy to hear he was at the beach earlier in the week.

On behalf of the Feisthamel family, please accept our most sincere condolences on the passing of a fine man

So true about Mr. Nagel's positive influence! I had the pleasure(maybe not at the time) of being a student at Scituate High and a student teacher at Cranston West under Mr. Nagel as well as a neighbor in Green Hill. I learned so much from him that perhaps was appreciated more as time passed. I remember Mr. Nagel meeting my son for the first time and the humor and affection he demonstrated were so appreciated. He seemed to remember everyone.
I am sincerely sorry for your loss.

From sitting on the deck of the Beach Club telling old football stories about my dad to his daily walks by our house to the beach, I was always happy to see Mr Nagel. He actually caught me in Citizens Bank recently and pulled out all his "grand pictures."
My thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Nagel, Curt, Julie & Heidi.

my deepest sympathy to the family. mr. Nagel was a special person. those of us who look back on high school as a difficult journey and were blessed to have adults around us like coach Nagel are forever grateful. even though he coached the boys, he always had time for a question or concern from us girls. in 1960 to most coaches, girls didnt matter. coach Nagel was always better than most coaches and spartan girls teams went on in life with the knowledge that we mattered and could be anything we wanted to be. im glad years later in a chance meeting i was able to thank him, our schools today would benifit from more teachers like him.
