Emily Mulhern Obituary

MULHERN, EMILY M., (LIMA), 89, passed away August 25 at the Scallop Shell Nursing Home in the embrace of her family. She was the devoted wife of the late James F. Mulhern.

Born in Sao Miguel, Azores daughter of the late Manuel T. and Etelvina Ventura Lima.

Emily was a long-time resident of Providence, later moving to Garden City, Cranston and spent her later years at Victoria Court Assisted Living in Cranston. She was a career employee of the New England Telephone Company serving as a repair service operator. She will be remembered for her volunteer work and her love of the choir at St. Mark's Church in Cranston.

She was devoted to her two surviving sons, Thomas Mulhearn and his wife Mary, James Mulhearn and his wife Caroline. She was most proud of her five grandchildren Mrs. Megan Rank, Dr. Meredith Mulhearn, Dr. Michael Mulhearn, Matthew Mulhearn, and Christopher Mulhearn and her 3 great grandchildren Katie, Timothy and Thomas Rank. She is also survived by her sister Mary Aguiar of Columbia, SC, and was the sister of the late Manuel and John Lima of East Providence.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 7:45 am from The Butterfield Chapel, 500 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mark's Church, Garden City, Cranston at 9:00 am. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-8 pm. Kindly omit flowers. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 275 Westimister Street, Providence, RI would be appreciated. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of sadness. Aunt Emily will be missed more than words can express. She was a wonderful wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will forever be in my heart.
