Jean Bentley Obituary

BENTLEY, JEAN D. (DRISCOLL), age 85, of Fall River died Aug. 28, 2007 in Charlton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late former Fall River Fire Lt., James S. Bentley.

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late John W. Driscoll and the late Julia V. (Curley) Driscoll, she was a lifelong resident of the city. Mrs. Bentley was an Administrative Secretary for the Children's Home in Fall River which became the Children's Stevens Home in Swansea for 17 years, retiring in 1980. A communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, she was a member of its Woman's Guild and also the Catholic Women's Guild. She was a graduate and class vice president of BMC Durfee High School, Class of 1938. Mrs. Bentley was an avid reader and excelled at playing 'Jeopardy'.

Surviving: Son Brian S. Bentley, Assistant Superintendant -Director/Principal Diman Regional Vocational High School, and his wife Karen J. of Westport, MA, daughters: Mrs. William D. (Marilyn B.) Rigby, retired Medical Technologist of Westport, MA and Ft. Myers, FL, and JoAnn Bentley, Architect, brother Rev. John P. Driscoll, Ret. Pastor St. Lawrence Parish, New Bedford, MA, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Sister of the late Lillian O'Boyle.

Funeral Fri, Aug. 31, 2007 at 9:00 AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St. followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Thomas St. Fall River.
