James McDonald Obituary

McDONALD, JAMES E., 74, of Westhill Court, passed away Tuesday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Marie D. (Murphy) McDonald.

Born in Erie, PA, he was a son of the late Edward J. and Mary H. (Reilly) McDonald.

A 20 year veteran of the US Navy, Mr. McDonald served in the Korean War and retired in 1971 as a parachute rigger 1st class. He later worked as the Director of Environmental Services at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital before retiring in 1991.

He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Branch 42, a NASCAR fan and enjoyed sailing. He was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church.

He leaves his children, Kathleen A. Moran and Debra Royal, both of Coventry, Mary Ann Rice of Ashland City, TN, Clifford J. McDonald of Cedar Rapids, IA and Edward J. McDonald of North Kingstown; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Patricia M. Maccarone.

His Funeral will be held Friday at 8:45 a.m. from the FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis de Sales Church, 381 School Street, North Kingstown. Burial with Military Honors will be in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Thursday 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, 200 High Service Avenue, North Providence, RI 02904, will be appreciated.
